Throughout the three tasteful albums they have released so far, Güiro Meets Russia have continuously designed the non-official soundtrack of a precise futuristic world —colorfully robotic, yet simultaneously somber and alarming. Although one may effortlessly find traces of genres such as krautrock or kosmische musik and influences from artists like Brian Eno or Kraftwerk in their work, the duo composed by Juanvi Fortea and Paco León could be more accurately compared to a storm of sonic pheromones or an acoustic heatwave from outer space.

At least 15 years had gone by since I had seen Paco for the last time, when a common friend told me that he had set in motion this amazing live electronic music project, which I should listen to without further delay. I promptly did and, a few months later, Juanvi and Paco were here —their combination of suggestive visuals, sci-fi synths and cosmic guitars resonating within the wooden walls of our auditorium. The sonic voyage they conducted us through was so memorable that one year later they were back in Aveiro, this time for an outdoor gig at one of the areas that we were programming for a local urban festival. Hypnotic, psychedelic and warm, the flow of their live sets has been dearly missed around these parts.
